TRY THE WHEEL SESSION:
Open to anyone interested in an opportunity to try a potter’s wheel for the first time. This session will provide a hands-on experience to allow participants to discover whether making pottery on the wheel is a practice they wish to pursue further.
As the craft of pottery takes significant time to learn, participants are encouraged and expected to make nothing but MUD in this short session.
And that’s OK!

Occasionally, a viable piece may result from your effort. In this case there may be an opportunity to return to glaze and fire for an additional fee.
Tuesday mornings - every 1st Tuesday of the month - 11 am - 2 pm
Thursday evenings - every 3rd Thursday of the month- 6pm - 9 pm.
$25 all materials included

If a piece is determined to be viable, the participant will need to return to glaze and there will be an additional fee of $10 for glazing and firing.
Minimum class size = 2

10-3pm
Day 1: 5-8pm Friday
Participants will gain an intimate, in-depth understanding of the raku process, from preparation, process, glazing techniques to firing and finishing.
10 max
Participants can bring in their own bisque ware to glaze and be fired during Saturday of workshop or bisque-fired forms / vessels will be provided
Day 2: 10-3pm Saturday
Participants are joined by an additional 10 participants and will facilitate a small raku event taking on leadership roles in the process. This includes setting up kilns, work areas, and staging of the event.
Expectations:
You will not only learn the Raku process, but will learn how to run a full raku firing, including safety procedures, and handling of pieces; from kiln, to can, to water, to cleaning.

The reason this session model works is that the group not only fires and is involved in their own work (group total of 30 pieces), they also get to work with others new to the process to fire an additional 30 pieces. This exposure and repetition will be invaluable as one pursues further work in Raku.
