Stray Cat Studio is currently seeking clay teachers for our year-round classes. We have a need for both pottery wheel and hand building teachers. We are looking for folks interested in leading adult, children, or mixed age classes. Whatever age you like to teach, we have a class for it! Candidates must have a solid background of experience in clay. 1-2 years minimum. Candidates need not be proficient in BOTH wheel and handbuilding. However, we ask that you provide a photographed portfolio in at least one of them.
A basic understanding of glazing is needed, as our classes do walk students through glazing. Former teaching experience is not required but preferred. A formal fine art degree is not required. We welcome those with experience in clay community classes or apprenticeships in the field. Classes can be planned around your schedule. Teach once a week or multiple classes weekly depending on your schedule. However, nights and weekends are preferred. Our classes average 2-3 hours per session, meeting once weekly. We are seeking teachers to teach fun, one time experience classes and/or multiple-week skill building classes. Bring your ideas, interests, experiences, and lessons to the table!
As a business, we take COVID very seriously. These classes are held outdoors, under cover, with a focus on ventilation. Our employees and students are required to wear face masks at all times. Please contact us for further details about our social distancing practices and the expectations we have put in place to keep everyone safe.
