About the event
We are hosting a raku demonstration during Briar Brook Barn's October market event.
Raku firing is a traditional Japanese technique where pots are taken out of the kiln while hot and rapidly cooled, creating unique and unpredictable results. Because the firing process is much faster than other methods, one is able to glaze, fire, and finish pieces in about 90 minutes!
That is where you can get involved-- we will have pieces ready for you to glaze for firing. POCG volunteers will show you how they are placed in the kiln, fired, cooled, and cleaned. Then, you walk away with your new pottery piece! The best part is that while you're waiting for the pieces to finish firing, you can grab a coffee, donut, and check out all the other vendors at the event.
All are welcome to participate, including kids.
We do welcome and gratefully accept donations for participation.
The event and demonstration will run Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
During this event, we will also be hosting a vendor booth, which you can learn more about here.
We hope to see you there!
