Membership

We welcome aspiring and established clay artists of all levels, as well as pottery/local art enthusiasts.

We have designed our guild memberships with accessibility in mind because we want everyone to have a chance to participate!

WHAT IS MEMBERSHIP?

What makes our guild successful is that POCG provides an abundance of resources, space, and opportunities, while artists contribute their time, talent, and capital.  The result of this relationship is a dynamic environment and robust learning community.
Members get out what they put in.

Options POCG Presents

1 / Studio Access

Studio Members have 24/7 access to our fully equipped community studio-- everything from the tools, textures, lending library, glaze room, kiln runs and even a ceramic materials lab!

Satellite Members get 3 Studio Days per year, which includes access to all the tools and resources in our community studio for 8 hours.

Also Available for allocation:

• Dedicated Shelves/Locker

• Dedicated Workbench

• Secure, Semi Private Artist Suite

2 / Sharing of Experience and Expertise

Studio and Satellite members are welcome to give us a call any time to ask questions or to get advice! We are anti-gatekeeping and want to help members be successful. Whether it's questions about the pottery production process, a maintenance issue with your kiln, or guidance on how to design your vendor booth for a fair, we will do our best to help. As a member, you also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and wisdom.

3 / Sliding Scale Contribution Model

All of our participation-based activities are offered on a sliding scale, so you can contribute at a level that is comfortable to you. This includes membership, workshops, and events.

4 / Discounts on Retail Items

All members receive discounts in our retail shop for clay materials, supplies and tools as well as at our guild market booth, where we sell Guild members' artwork at local events.

5 / Vendor Experience Program

For Studio and Satellite artists interested in selling their work, we present the opportunity and support to sell on our PennOhio Clay Guild group booth at the Youngstown Flea and Briar Brook Barn throughout the year. These markets are staffed by guild members, sharing the benefit and workload. For artists interested in starting to sell their work online or at their own booth, we are happy to share our experience and expertise to help them get started or take their shop/booth to the next level.

Expectations of Members

The PennOhio Clay guild is a collective of artists united by a shared vision, pooling our resources—whether time, experience, or money—to create opportunities and experiences that benefit us all. We do not have any paid staff members, so our guild relies on the generosity of our members' gifts of time and talent.

Each guild member is expected to contribute to the collective growth and success of the group. With a wide variety of ways to support our mission, every skill, talent, gift, or bit of time you can offer is invaluable. Your contribution is essential, and hopefully, a personally rewarding experience for you.

We are a community built on collaboration, not transactions.
