From watercolor paintings to clay creations — this month’s Mug of the Month began with trees in sketchbook and ended fresh from the kiln.
Frank experimented with slip-trailing, carving, and chattering to give each mug texture and life, then spent nearly two hours hand-painting underglazes on each one. Every step — from throwing and trimming to the final glaze firing at the Guild — taught me something new.
What started as an idea turned into a small forest of mugs, each one a reminder that clay is more than just mud. It’s tradition, transformation, and a little bit of magic you can hold in your hands.
