Creative growth often thrives in environments where artists can share their work, exchange ideas, and receive honest feedback. That's the "why?" behind Creative Roundtable: a monthly gathering designed to bring our member artists together for meaningful discussions and collaboration. This event has become a cornerstone for members seeking inspiration, support, and connection within their artistic community. It has helped many artist members take their work and artistry "to the next level."
The Origin of the Creative Roundtable
The idea for the Creative Roundtable came from one of the guild’s members, Ryan V., who had experienced formal critique sessions during art school. Missing those structured opportunities to discuss work and receive feedback, he proposed creating a similar space for the guild. His vision was to build a supportive forum where members could openly share their projects, ask for advice, and help each other overcome creative blocks.
Ryan not only suggested the idea, but also helps to organize and run the sessions, ensuring they met the needs of the group. The result is a well-loved event that has grown in popularity and attendance since its inception.
How the Roundtable Works
The Creative Roundtable happens once a month and welcomes all active guild members. Participants can join in person at the studio or connect via Zoom, making it accessible regardless of location.
Members interested in presenting their work sign up ahead of time. During the session, each presenter shares what they are working on, explains any challenges they face, and requests specific feedback or assistance. This structure ensures that every participant gets a chance to speak and receive focused input, while not receiving unsolicited advice.
The discussions are open and constructive, encouraging members to explore new techniques, refine their ideas, and gain fresh perspectives. The collaborative atmosphere helps artists feel supported and motivated to push their creative boundaries.
Join the Creative Roundtable
If you are a member of the PennOhio Clay Guild or interested in joining, the Creative Roundtable is an excellent opportunity to connect with other clay artists. Whether you want to present your work or simply listen and learn, this monthly event offers a welcoming space to grow your skills and creativity.
